WHAT IS MUSIC COACHING
AND WHY IS IT BETTER THAN JUST
REGULAR PIANO/ VOCAL TEACHING?

Any musician can teach, but just as in sports, great athletes are rarely the best coaches. Knowledgeable coaching is what brings about excellence in any skilled area. Below are a few reasons that for quitting regular music lessons that would be addressed through music coaching.

-
Lessons are boring
-
Material is too hard
-
Progress is slow
-
Teacher is too critical
-
Songs are dull
-
I don't want to perform in public
Hi, I am Michelle Jacobi, a professional music coach and teacher. I have been coaching piano and voice for over 12 years and have developed a successful music lesson program to bring forth and develop your child's musical abilities and talents.

Here is my coaching process that makes up an engaging and
successful music journey experience:
1
I will sit down with you and your child. We will discuss and write out long and short term goals. Then I will assess the child's previous musical background and support network (parents, grandparents, family members, friends).
2
The program will include customizing your child's music program to interest and challenge them while keeping their learning style in mind. Periodic updates will be made to
assist when needed.
Customized Music Program
3
Program Committment
Once the goals are established, the student, parents, and support network will commit to the goals publicly. This is done through the policy statement and connecting to the network of people through social media or email. This is because it is proven that people are 10 times more likely to follow through if the commitment is made publicly.

Enrichment Experience
Through out the year there will be recitals, state audition, and other events for your child to participate in . This is a great time to help your child gain confidence. It can be scary, but you will find that our family networks are very supportive and gracious.
EXAMPLES OF HOW COACHING
WORKS IN REAL LIFE

I have a student who had a fear of performing in front of others. This student’s parents and I always encouraged them. Showed the child that they could do it and life is full of mistakes. It’s all about how you get past them and learn from them. We gave the child a encouraging environment. This student performed at the next recital and did great! They had a feeling of accomplishment and is already excited for the next recital.

Another student was given a book from a previous teacher. They were not interested in the piano. They were frustrated with how little they progressed. I was able to assess the situation and found a book that appealed to them and their learning style. Now their progress has improved and their love of music has grown. No student is the same. I cannot expect what works for one to work for the other.
